The school – the first new Catholic secondary school to be opened in 25 years – was named in honour of The Most Reverend Anthony F. Tonnos, eighth Bishop of Hamilton. Bishop Tonnos served as the faithful shepherd of the Hamilton Diocese from 1984-2010, and was a steadfast supporter of Catholic Education. An official ground breaking ceremony was held on May 22, 2003 on the grounds of the former 17.5-acre Marshall Potato Farm on Highway 53 just west of Fiddler’s Green Road. Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School opened in February 2005 with an initial enrolment of 475 students. Want to learn more?
